I first visited Nevis via sailboat at the age of 14 with a group of friends. We anchored the sailboat and swam to the shores of Pinneys beach and enjoyed an afternoon lunch at famous Sunshine’s Bar & Grill. It wasn’t hard to immediately fall in love with the Island for its tranquillity, natural beauty and friendly atmosphere. The experience was very memorable, and I decided to return several years later to do an internship at a law firm in Nevis.
The summer that I did an internship allowed me to discover more of what the island had to offer and develop close relationships with people living on the island. Originally from Canada, the Caribbean life was an entirely new experience and one that I came to love. It was extraordinary to swim amongst resident turtles on a daily basis and spend the weekends diving different sites around the island. The people of Nevis were welcoming, and I regularly had lunch with different people at local spots.
I discovered some of Nevis’ top boutique resorts such as Montpelier, Golden Rock, Hermitage, Oualie Beach Resort among others. Attending Culturama that takes place every year during the summer in celebration of Nevis’ culture was one of the highlights of that summer.
From biking and sailing around the island to hiking up to the waterfalls, there is always something to do to keep active on Nevis.
